Here's to a Simple, Healthy New Year!!

Well, 2010 has arrived! I've been looking forward to this fresh start! I always love a new year. Clean start, new beginnings! I wasn't able to get my post in last night due to some technical difficulties. I was just going to say that I really didn't make an "approved" list of things I could buy this year. In thinking about it, it just seemed senseless. I likes how my son mentioned "only the needs in life" and I thought that would say it all.

So in the past two weeks I picked up things I'd needed and wanted and basically had my last hurrah so to speak. Ordered some books on Amazon and bought some clothes with my Christmas money. Basically bought more stuff. I'm sure I don't really need.

This blog may have a lot of complaining and whining, so I apologize from the beginning. I'm hoping to "find" myself through this experiment and not complain that I don't have time for me. I hope to stop looking outward for things and happiness and start looking inward and finding happiness and knowing that what I have is enough.

Day one, it's 8am and....so far so good!

Looking forward to getting off this cycle!!

Well, here it is, a little over two weeks and my challenge begins! I'm looking forward to it. Really. Every year this time my husband gets frustrated with me and the money I spend. I'm out there getting things for Christmas, things we need and possibly a few things we don't need. My excuse now is, next year I won't be doing this. Every year it's the same song, second verse....I'm sure some of you can relate.

I really set up this challenge so that I could learn discipline and take my time purchasing the things I really "need". I buy things because they are sooooo darn cute! As I've described, I'm really a Target girl with a little bit of Macy's thrown in. So, what I spend isn't always on designer things. I'm a victim of "it's only $10, $15, $20". Multiply that by ten times and it's up to $200!! It's amazing to me to see how quickly small purchases add up. I now notice two trips to Target and Walmart and lunch with a friend is $100 in no time. Two forties and a twenty equal $100! I never noticed that before.

So my friends, I'm looking forward to getting off this rollercoaster, purchasing only the needs in life (to quote my son), and getting a handle on my financial craziness.
